Excavation pit: safely in and out again

The stepped construction pit ladder from Munk Günzburger Steigtechnik ensures extra work safety

Press release

Risk-free and safe entry and exit in excavations up to 2.10 deep. This is exactly what the new stepped construction pit ladder from Munk Günzburger Steigtechnik offers. The innovation of the quality manufacturer from Bavaria has an extra wide, height-adjustable platform with slip resistance according to the R13 standard as well as 80 mm deep steps, which are equipped with the clip-step R13 tread pads, which are also slip-resistant. Top safety is guaranteed because the platform can be locked at the edge of the pit, the foot plates of the ladder are equipped with a movable ground claw joint for optimum anchoring in the pit and handrails on both sides ensure a secure hold. This means that construction workers and tradesmen can climb into and out of the excavation pit particularly safely. The equipment variant of the stepped construction pit ladder with handrails was included in the BG Bau occupational safety programme, so that the purchase is subsidised with up to 50 percent of the costs.

"When getting in and out of the excavation pit, it usually has to be quick because you already have the next step in mind. A safe step with maximum slip resistance is the be-all and end-all here. This is what we have achieved with our new product," says Ferdinand Munk, owner and managing director of the Munk Group. The new stepladder is used on the construction site as a single ladder. The basic model, optionally with or without handrail, is designed for an excavation pit depth of up to 1.05 m. With two optional plug-in parts, it can also be extended and used in excavations up to 2.10 m deep. No tools are required for the conversion, as assembly is quick and easy via plug-in connections with hook locking.

Easy handling and work safety combined

The new stepped construction pit ladder from Munk Günzburger Steigtechnik is particularly stable due to the quadruple flanging of the step-rail connection and is characterised by its easy handling and extra work safety. The extra wide, height-adjustable platform (550 x 240 mm) made of anti-slip perforated aluminium sheeting in R13 and the reinforced, one-metre-long bridging steps enable particularly safe bridging steps. Depending on the excavation depth, the platform made of perforated aluminium sheeting is locked at the appropriate height to securely anchor the ladder to the edge of the excavation. Via the movable foot joint with ground claws, the user can ensure that the ladder always rests fully on the ground and thus provides a safe footing at the correct angle of attack. The ladder inclination of the stepped pit ladder is 70 degrees, the maximum load is 150 kg.

Thanks to the clip-step R13 anti-slip tread, the 80 mm deep steps are safe to step on even in bad weather conditions and in oil-smeared working environments.

Subsidised by BG BAU

Thanks to its numerous features, which offer the highest level of work safety in practice, the stepladder with handrails on both sides has already been included in the occupational health and safety premium programme of the German Employer's Liability Insurance Association for the Construction Industry (BG BAU): BG BAU covers 50 per cent of the purchase costs up to the maximum subsidy amount.
