The definition of a mobile work platform has been changed and clarified, and the standard has been revised editorially and technically.
The standard applies to mobile work platforms as temporary work equipment inside (standing height up to 12.0 m) and outside (standing height up to 8.0 m) buildings; standing heights from 0 m to 2.5 m have been newly included.
The standard does not apply to scaffolding in accordance with EN 12810-1 (facade scaffolding) and EN 12811-1 (working scaffolding).
Mobile work platforms may only consist of a single scaffolding bay structure and only one deck surface (usually the top one) may be used as a working level.
It must be possible to assemble, dismantle or convert the mobile work platform without the use of personal fall protection equipment. This means that technical (e.g. assembly safety railings) or organisational solutions (e.g. 3-T method) are required.
The maximum vertical distance between decking surfaces is 2.25 m and between the ground and the first decking surface is 3.40 m.
Liquid or granular materials may also be used as ballast if they are supplied by the manufacturer in shock-resistant and sealable containers.
Clarification that mobile work platforms are not anchorage points for personal protective equipment against falls (exception: they are specifically designed by the manufacturer for this purpose and in accordance with the applicable standards).
The changes resulting from the new DIN EN 1004-1 standard have already been taken into account for the corresponding products in the range.
