A ladder that not only protects against electric shocks

Munk Günzburger Steigtechnik offers the first TRBS-compliant GRP step ladders manufactured in Germany

Press release

Relaxed working even at high voltage: Users can now do this with the new TRBS-compliant GRP step ladders from Munk Günzburger Steigtechnik. These are available as stepladders and straight ladders. The new products are made of insulating glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) and provide the necessary plus in work safety not only in the electrical trade when working near live parts. The innovations also score points in the cold and with chemical substances. The new GRP step ladders are tested according to DIN EN 61478:2002 + A1 (2004) for voltages up to 60,000 volts and, as step ladders, also meet the stricter requirements of the Technical Rules for Industrial Safety - especially TRBS 2121 Part 2.

Users can therefore rely on the innovation from Günzburg, especially in the high-voltage environment. With this latest innovation, Munk Günzburger Steigtechnik is living up to its reputation as a leader in technology and innovation: the family-owned company is the first supplier ever to launch GRP step ladders manufactured in Germany.

"When working in the vicinity of electrical components, the utmost caution is inherently required. With our new step version of our GRP ladder, we not only offer users reliable protection against electric shocks, but also greater stability when working on the steps thanks to the larger tread surfaces," says Ferdinand Munk, owner and managing director of the Munk Group.

Designed with safety in mind

For maximum safety, not only the body of the new GRP step ladders but also a large part of the components are made of insulating material in order to prevent the danger of body flow or the triggering of an arc due to a short-circuit or earth fault. In this way, the remaining risk is kept as low as possible. The 80 millimetre deep steps, conically guided stiles and the patented nivello ladder shoe, which has an intelligent 2-axis tilt technology as well as a practical angle-of-attack control, ensure a safe standing of ladder and user. The high-strength stair rail connection also offers pure stability.

Quickly assembled

As a stepladder, the GRP step ladder is available in four sizes up to a working height of 3.1 metres and is characterised by its easy handling: It can be assembled and dismantled in seconds and without much effort. With integrated transport safety straps, the folded ladder is also secured against unplanned unfolding. The GRP stepladder is available in five sizes (six to 14 steps) and can be used for working heights of up to 4.5 metres. From 3 metres ladder length, the single ladders are equipped with a GRP traverse with non-slip ladder shoes. Accessory packages such as the complete set of ladder head safety devices can be used to fix the single ladder to suspension brackets, gutters or beams.

Good thermal insulation

GRP ladders are not only in great demand in the electrical trade, but also wherever corrosion resistance or good thermal insulation is required - i.e. also in particularly hot or cold environments. The fibre-plastic composite, also known as 'fibreglass', is particularly weather-resistant and thus has first-class protection against corrosion. In addition, the GRP step ladders are suitable for work in the environment of chemical substances such as acids and alkalis due to their material composition. When stored and used as intended, the GRP step ladder is resistant to ageing for at least ten years.

First GRP step ladder made in Germany

"It speaks for our high standards and good vertical range of manufacture as a quality manufacturer that we are the first supplier ever to be able to supply GRP step ladders that are manufactured in Germany. This once again lives up to our reputation as a technology and innovation leader," says Munk.
