Success driven by a doer mentality

Munk Group posts another increase in turnover

27/02/2023

Press release

Made in Germany".

"We can be proud of how we have mastered this difficult year," says Ferdinand Munk, owner and managing director of the Munk Group, referring to the difficult general conditions: "Of course, we too - like the entire SME sector - had to struggle with the tense geopolitical situation. As everyone knows, there were big fluctuations when it came to the availability of goods, as well as purchasing and energy prices. And yet, we did not have to put any workers on short-time work or even lay them off, and we exceeded our turnover targets in all business areas. Kudos to our employees: They carry our mentality of doing and tackling in their hearts and thus secure our position as a technology and innovation leader."

Whether Munk Günzburger Steigtechnik, Munk Rettungstechnik, Munk Service or the new business division, Munk Profiltechnik: despite the difficult conditions, the order books were and are full to bursting and the Munk Group was always able to deliver quickly. "We will continue to be so in the future: With our new production and sawing centre in Günzburg and our investments in independent energy generation at both locations, we will ensure the long-term success of our business units," says Munk.

Enough space to grow

The new production and sawing centre at the company's headquarters in Günzburg will provide even more "safety made in Germany" in the future. The 5000 m2 production hall has state-of-the-art equipment, for example a laser cutting machine and a partially automated conveyor system for material logistics. With more space and new machines, the Munk Group is optimising the efficiency of its manufacturing processes and expanding its production capacities.

Towards energy self-sufficiency

In recent months, the Munk Group has already set the course for mastering the challenges of the 2023 business year: "The industry has become painfully aware of the importance of self-sufficient energy supply in the past year at the latest. That is why we have installed photovoltaic systems at our two sites in Günzburg and Leipheim: With plenty of green energy, they will help us to reliably cover our energy needs even in times of crisis," says Ferdinand Munk.

The investment in renewable solar energy is very much in line with the Munk Group's sustainable self-image: through its durable products and other measures such as its own Munk Climate Forest, the technology and innovation leader protects the environment and resources - and does so out of conviction. This has also been recognised by EcoVadis, the company for sustainability assessments, which is why the Munk Group has already been awarded the CSR Silver Rating for the fourth time in 2022. Of all the companies evaluated, Munk is thus among the top 25 percent.

New wood chip heating system

In order to become more self-sufficient in terms of heating, the Munk Group in Günzburg is currently commissioning an additional wood chip plant: "In view of the difficult energy supply last year, it is all the more important to have several alternative options at hand to keep the company warm and running in case of a crisis. Now we can vary between oil, gas and wood chips for heating," says the managing director and owner.

In the next five years, the Munk Group will make further investments in the double-digit millions: "We want to continue to shape the industry as a technology and innovation leader. To this end, we will continue to expand our pioneering position, especially in the core topics of occupational safety, digitalisation and sustainability," says Munk.

Innovations are well received

The company's innovations always make an important contribution to its leading market position. This was also the case in 2022. The newly introduced products such as the stepped rope ladder and the Safety Guard (SG) variants of the FlexxTower one-person scaffold and the rolling and folding scaffolds were a complete success. The next innovations are already in the pipeline for 2023. For example, the first stepladder made of GRP in Germany with stiles and steps made of glass-fibre reinforced plastic profiles.

The new Munk Profiltechnik division also got off to a successful start in 2022. Whether for vehicle interior fittings, for machine enclosures, or for the construction of a recycling station: with its aluminium construction profiles, Munk Profiltechnik offers both professionals and do-it-yourselfers high-quality technology for their configurations. The profiles can be combined in modules and are available from the basic element for self-assembly to the complete system assembled on site by Munk.

Full trade fair presence

Once again, direct contact with the trade public was responsible for the good business year: "After a break of almost two years, we were finally able to present our new products live at the trade fairs again. Highlights were the Logimat and the Hardware Fair, and for the Rescue Technology Division, of course, the Interschutz," says Ferdinand Munk. In the new year, things will continue directly, among others at BAU, Logimat, Agritechnica and A+A.

Above all, the company also wants to maintain a high level of direct contact with its customers through its on-site presence with trade partners in Germany and Austria. "With our popular roadshows, together with our trade partners, we achieve a very high depth of consultation with users. The response is excellent and shows how important our approach of competent personal advice from person to person is. It is clear that we will also expand this in 2023," says Munk.

Success stems from cooperation

Ferdinand Munk sees the Munk Group well prepared for 2023 and is proud of the cohesion within the company as well as the very good relationships with customers, suppliers and partners: "Success is not something that just happens. Success comes from us working together, says Ferdinand Munk. The company is entering the new year with a solid market position.
