Germany has a new meeting place for ‘safety made in Germany’: the Munk Group has opened a new customer centre at its headquarters in Günzburg. The heart of the new centre is the 540 m2 exhibition hall, where visitors can get up close and personal with the highlights of all Munk Group product ranges and test them out for themselves – whether access equipment, rescue equipment or profile technology, series products or special and configurator solutions. This also benefits the Munk Group's training guests, as the new training room in the customer centre is directly connected to the exhibition, so that the exhibits can be incorporated into the teaching content at any time.
Covering a total area of around 2,000 m2, the family-owned company has expanded and renovated the customer centre, administration and sales offices in its ‘Plant 1’ and, in doing so, upgraded both the building and its energy efficiency. The entire administration in Plant 1 is now also connected to the company's own wood chip plant. The company celebrated the opening of the customer centre with over 100 guests. In addition to the companies involved in the construction, representatives from the church and politics also attended.
40 trades were involved
For a year, around 40 trades worked together to create the new customer centre with adjoining training room, office and meeting rooms and other usable space, to expand the office space for administration and sales, and to upgrade the building's energy efficiency. The exhibition area of the customer centre has almost tripled in size as a result of the renovation: On 540 m2 of exhibition space, the Munk Group brings together the most important products from all its product ranges in one place and offers comprehensive insights into its company history and the entire world of climbing and rescue technology.
Being close to customers
In addition to the exhibits, the focus here is above all on proximity to people: "We didn't just build our new customer centre to display more products. Here, we will welcome our customers from the trades and industry, as well as our trading partners and occupational safety and standards experts – listen to them, advise them on a personal level and work together to find solutions that make work safer," says Ferdinand Munk, owner and managing director of the Munk Group, based in Günzburg and Leipheim.
The new exhibition
The fully accessible work platform in the exhibition also demonstrates how individually Munk Group customers can configure their occupational safety solutions: the platform has been equipped with a wide range of options, including emergency descent shaft ladders and climbing ladders, as well as electric and manual extensions and an electrically foldable, height-adjustable basket. In the exhibition, guests of the Munk Group can put exhibits such as the work platform through their paces right on site: ‘Anyone looking for the ideal safety solution should go into great detail and seek expert advice. In our customer centre, climbing and rescue technology can be experienced first-hand – and that creates safety,’ says Munk.
Those who want to explore the entire product range on site will find modern touch displays in the exhibition hall: visitors can use them to browse the product range digitally, find detailed information pages on all products and test the various online product configurators.
Concentrated expertise
The new customer centre also includes a 375 m2 training room and an adjoining room for testing and measurement technology. This is ideal for the various seminars and training courses offered by the Munk Group: "Whether it's about current standards and regulations, testing and maintenance of climbing and rescue technology, or simply valuable practical knowledge: Thanks to the short distances in the customer centre, we can incorporate the exhibits in our exhibition into our content at any time and also integrate the testing and measurement technology for live demonstrations. This means we can now offer training guests a completely new experience with the full range of Munk expertise in one place," says Munk.
Energy-efficient
With its new customer centre, the Munk Group is taking ever greater steps towards CO2 neutrality: as part of the renovation and expansion measures, the company has not only completely renovated and enlarged the building, but also upgraded its energy efficiency. To this end, the centre has been fitted with a new façade and new windows, as well as intelligent, demand-based building management technology: This regulates the indoor air and temperature in real time, thereby minimising unnecessary energy losses. "I am particularly proud that the renovation has now enabled us to connect the customer centre and the entire administration to our wood chip heating system, meaning that we can already cover 40% of the total heating energy requirements at our sites from renewable sources. This brings us ever closer to our goal of becoming CO2-neutral without compensation measures, and with the latest measures we have already achieved a transformation rate of around 30 percent," says Alexander Werdich, also owner and managing director of the Munk Group.
The future of Munk continues
Even beyond the new customer centre, all signs point to growth at the Munk Group. The company recently moved into another factory in the neighbouring Lochfelbenstraße in Günzburg: covering a total area of 17,000 m2, ‘Factory 4’ is now the new home of Munk Profiltechnik and the products of the online configurators – from production to offices to logistics.
A clubhouse for the kids
The Munk Group is continuing to expand its holiday care services for its employees' children: in addition to the large playground in the staff garden, the company has now opened its own clubhouse for Munk Kids. With over 70 m2 of floor space and a total covered area of 250 m2, the clubhouse is now the new home for the employees' children and offers them even more fun, games and excitement during the school holidays. The Munk company fire brigade has also moved into its own retreat with its new Florianstüberl. Here, members can exchange ideas, socialise and relax after operations.
Further investments planned
Anyone familiar with the Munk Group knows that the next milestones are already in the starting blocks: "In the coming years, we will once again be making investments in the double-digit million range in order to continue growing sustainably at our locations in our home district. To this end, we will further modernise and digitalise the machinery at our four plants and expand their production capacities. Together with the city of Günzburg, we are currently working on a development plan for our company headquarters in order to open up even more space," says Alexander Werdich. The Munk Rettungstechnik site, which the company only opened in Leipheim in 2021, is also to be expanded, as is the independent supply of renewable energies directly at the sites.
Munk Group is ‘Best Brand of the Year 2025’
With steady growth and a high level of innovation, the Munk Group is consistently pursuing its path as a medium-sized company – and is repeatedly recognised for this: the quality manufacturer is now the only company in the access technology industry to receive the Plus X Award for ‘Best Brand of the Year’, the innovation prize for brand quality. ‘The Best Brand 2025 award shows once again that we are doing everything right with our focus on quality, safety and customer proximity. Because it is precisely these values that make us a leader in technology and innovation. And it is with precisely these values that we will continue to support our visitors in our new customer centre as a competent and reliable partner,’ said Ferdinand Munk at the opening ceremony.
‘Show your workplace’ campaign day
The day after the opening ceremony, the company opened its doors again: during the ‘Show your workplace’ campaign day, all employees were invited to bring their families to get to know the new customer centre and the entire site. Guests were able to explore the Munk headquarters on guided tours or on their own, and employees were able to show their families where they work and produce safety made in Germany.
