Press release

The Munk Group, based in Günzburg and Leipheim, is once again one of the top innovators among German SMEs: The Bavarian quality manufacturer of access and rescue equipment has been recognised for the sixth time in compamedia's TOP 100 innovation competition for its high innovative strength. The award is based on a comprehensive scientific benchmarking process: An independent jury headed by Professor Nikolaus Franke (WU Vienna) analysed the participants on the basis of over 100 performance indicators in five categories. The Munk Group stood out in particular in the categories ‘Innovation-promoting top management’ and ‘Climate of innovation’.

‘We are very honoured to once again be recognised as a TOP 100 innovator: it proves once again that we consistently live up to our claim of being a technology and innovation leader. This applies just as much to our clever product innovations as it does to our future-orientated, responsible actions as a company. We look forward to continuing our successful 125th anniversary year,’ says Ferdinand Munk, owner and Managing Director of the Munk Group.

Safety. Made in Germany

For Munk, a central pillar of his company's long success story is the guiding principle of ‘Safety. made in Germany’: the Munk Group has been manufacturing exclusively in its home region since it was founded 125 years ago. In this way, the company keeps its supply chains stable and secure and responds quickly to customer enquiries and requirements. The high level of vertical integration on site also enables the Munk Group to offer a guarantee of 15 years on the complete series range made in Germany, which is unique in the industry.

The Munk Group recently invested over 30 million euros in its sites: ‘With modern production and a transformation concept for maximum energy self-sufficiency, we are ensuring that our customers can continue to rely on us in the future. Of course, artificial intelligence is also finding its way into our processes and we are already utilising its benefits in the development of our innovations. All of this is ‘Safety. made in Germany’: a company that tackles the challenges of tomorrow, constantly sets new occupational safety standards with innovative products and stands by its customers, trading partners and employees as a reliable partner,’ says Munk.

Innovations from the field for the field

The Munk Group has always developed its access and rescue technology solutions in close dialogue with users from the field: ‘We listen carefully to the professionals and pay attention to details during product development. Of course, this also applies to the continuous further development of our tried-and-tested classics. With completely new solutions, we offer users in industry and trade as well as emergency and rescue services real added value for their everyday work. We do everything we can to make their work even safer - after all, nothing less than their health is at stake,’ says Munk.

In 2024, for example, the new Ergo platform for mobile scaffolding showed how the added value of Munk innovations pays off in practice. It is made of a composite material and is therefore not only more durable, but also up to 40 per cent lighter and therefore significantly more ergonomic than conventional rolling scaffold platforms: Thanks to its low weight, it noticeably reduces the strain on workers during assembly, conversion and dismantling - and therefore also the risk of accidents at work.
