What is the difference between a mobile container and a hook-lift container?
A mobile container is a compact logistics unit that can be moved manually or by a team – transported in logistics support vehicles or multi-purpose response vehicles, loaded via a tail lift, and moved by hand. A hook-lift container is a multi-tonne unit on a lorry chassis with a hook-lift system – deployed only by mechanical means; manual transport is not possible. For last-mile off-road logistics, only the mobile container is relevant.
Can a rail chassis be retrofitted?
Yes. MUNK offers two rail chassis solutions. Each is compatible exclusively with its own adapter set – they cannot be mixed. New solution for the Offroad-System Premium: the Rail Chassis Kit for Offroad-System Premium (order no. 120154). It attaches to the Premium Off-Road System Mounting Kit (order no. 120151). The kit covers tram track (1,000 mm) and DB standard gauge (1,435 mm), fits tool-free, and travels with the transport trolley. Existing solution: the Rail-mounted trolley set. This is a standalone system with its own adapter. It is not compatible with the Off-road suspension and its Off-road suspension mount (order no. 120251). The MUNK Rettungstechnik team can advise which solution is compatible with your mobile containers.
What to do if the container is stuck in soft ground?
The lifting units of the Offroad-System Premium can be fitted from the side even on a container that has already sunk in. The crank-and-spindle mechanism raises the container in a controlled manner – provided the ground still offers sufficient resistance for the spindle to engage and emergency personnel can stand securely. Where the ground has lost all bearing capacity, even the best off-road system reaches its physical limits. This tactical advantage when freeing a container from soft ground nonetheless sets the Premium system fundamentally apart from the Offroad-Fahrwerk.
Which surfaces does the system handle?
The 360 mm pneumatic tyres with aggressive tread pattern handle waterlogged meadow paths, wet grass, loose gravel, sandy ground, dense root networks, high kerbs, and ballast in track areas – in short, any surface on which emergency personnel can still stand and move safely. Once the ground loses all traction for people, the same applies to the undercarriage.
How is the Offroad-System Premium fitted?
Four steps: insert the lifting units into the pre-fitted mounting adapter set → fit the wheels → raise the container to the required ground clearance using the hand crank and spindle → lock the steering bar. No tools required. The fitting procedure also works on a sunken container.
What is the load capacity of the MUNK off-road systems?
Both systems – the Offroad-Fahrwerk and the Offroad-System Premium – are rated for loads of up to 500 kg. This allows the transport of portable pumps, power generators, fully loaded hose reels, or hydraulic rescue equipment.
