World first: take to the terrain with the off-road system premium

Munk Rettungstechnik facilitates the transport of equipment during outdoor operations

Press release

Kerbs and cobblestones in city centres, muddy meadows and rough tracks off-road: emergency services can now navigate these obstacles effortlessly even with fully loaded mobile containers, ensuring material transport even in difficult terrain. This is made possible by the new Off-Road System Premium for mobile containers, which Munk Rettungstechnik has just unveiled at Interschutz 2026. The innovation redefines logistics in the field: regardless of the surface or obstacle, the new Off-Road System Premium is assembled in no time and remains easy to manoeuvre even under extreme conditions.

"With the Off-Road System Premium, we have succeeded in setting a new standard for logistics in outdoor operations. From now on, our mobile containers are more capable off-road than ever before. This means fire brigades, rescue services and relief organisations are even better equipped – especially for operations involving vegetation fires, flooding, or situations where water must be drawn from open bodies of water," explains Ferdinand Munk, Managing Director and owner of the Munk Group, headquartered in Günzburg and Leipheim. Thanks to a rail bogie kit, the new product from Munk Rettungstechnik is also suitable for operations on tram networks (track gauge 1,000 mm) or the Deutsche Bahn rail network (track gauge 1,435 mm).

Maximum Ground Clearance

In developing the new Off-Road System Premium for mobile containers, the experts at Munk focused on maximising the ground clearance of the unit and developed a system that combines the advantages of a sophisticated chassis with a robust design, quick assembly, and safe handling.

Excellent Traction Thanks to Pneumatic Tyres

The plug-in pneumatic tyres offer outstanding traction on uneven terrain thanks to their wide, aggressive tread. The steering bar, which plugs into the drawbar, allows the Off-Road System Premium to be manoeuvred with ease – enhancing driving comfort. The independent wheel suspension facilitates steering, while the three-wheel design ensures maximum stability – even on uneven ground. "These advantages clearly set our new development apart from existing systems," says Ferdinand Munk.

Pneumatic Tyres Through Difficult Terrain

The three-part, large-dimensioned wheel set of the Off-Road System Premium has a track width of 1,400 millimetres. Users can adjust the ground clearance steplessly via the cranks, keeping the transport unit mobile even in difficult terrain. A key advantage: "The system can be assembled on any surface – even if the mobile container has already sunk in and become stuck," says Ferdinand Munk.

Unlimited Mobility – Fast and Easy Assembly

Assembly of the Off-Road System Premium is quick and straightforward: users simply insert the two lifting devices into the mounting brackets of the mobile containers, attach the wheels, and then crank the entire unit to the desired height using two cranks and a spindle. "Once the steering bar is inserted, you're ready to go. The fast assembly saves emergency services valuable time and effort," explains Alexander Werdich, also Managing Director and owner of the Munk Group.

Easy to Transport

Transport of the new Off-Road System Premium has also been carefully considered. The individual components can be combined into a single unit. Optionally, Munk Rettungstechnik also offers a dedicated mobile container in Euro pallet dimensions of 1,200 x 800 millimetres for the transport system, accommodating the Off-Road System Premium, both lifting devices, the steering unit, the three-part wheel set, and the rail bogie kit. Those who prefer to transport the rail bogie kit separately are perfectly equipped with the 70-litre aluminium transport box: mounted on a screen-printed panel, it provides space for the rail bogie and can be stored within the Off-Road System Premium in coupled mode.

Growing Demand for Outdoor Operations

Munk Rettungstechnik is responding to the increased demands in operational logistics with this new off-road development. "In recent years in particular, forest and vegetation fires have increased, and there are significantly more flood operations across all regions than before. These are new challenges for emergency services in the field. Mobile containers with standard tyres simply don't get far in these conditions. That made it all the more important to find a solution that ensures material transport even in outdoor operations," says Werdich.

Tyres That Stay Inflated

Munk Rettungstechnik has thought of this too: for emergencies and regular use, a tyre sealant is available as an accessory for the new Off-Road System Premium. It can be used both preventively and retroactively on the tubeless tyres to prevent a flat.

The new Off-Road System Premium from Munk Rettungstechnik is compatible with all mobile containers from Munk Rettungstechnik, provided they are fitted with the appropriate mounting kit. Existing models can be retrofitted at any time.
